Nick, I lost my cell phone this week. While this would normally be okay with me, it had on it the picture of the shoe.
Do you remember the shoe? We were driving back to your place from a massive study session and were totally brainfried. When we passed the school of theology we saw a perfectly clean black men's dress shoe in the middle of the sidewalk. It looked as though it was on it's way somewhere.
I remember how we circled around the block and snapped pictures of the shoe, all alone on the sidewalk.
I guess it's okay that I lost the picture, you were the only one there with me, and you were the only one who understood the magic of the shoe, and that moment. I did like holding onto the memory though, and the picture helped me do that.
I miss you a lot.
I have finally gotten to a place where I can think about you and talk about you without crying. It only took four months, but I am here.

This is so classic! I must admit, however, that when I read the blog heading and the first line, I thought you were talking about a different shoe. Does anyone else know what "other" shoe, I could possibly be referring to? Yes, the sandal/ shoes Nick used to wear. So funny! I wonder what ever happened to the san-oes. They were so worn out. He wore them everyday and probably would have worn them with his suit, if he could have. Do you think a part of Nick was hippy?
I had totally forgotten about those shoes!
